Automotive franchises are among the most capital-intensive in this dataset but also among the most recession-resistant — people maintain cars regardless of the economy. The key metric is bay count and throughput: a 6-bay Jiffy Lube processes 80-120 cars/day vs. a 3-bay specialty shop doing 15-20. EV adoption is reshaping the maintenance mix (fewer oil changes, more tire/brake/HVAC), so brands investing in EV training and equipment are better positioned for the next decade.
All data is extracted from official Franchise Disclosure Documents filed with state regulators. Investment ranges come from FDD Item 7; royalties from Item 6; unit counts and growth from Item 20. See our guide to reading an FDD for methodology details.
